Position description

Amatheon Agri Uganda Ltd is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual to support the running of the Outgrower program.

Responsibilities

Amongst others, the person will support the planning, establishment, and management of the commercial Outgrower scheme including:

Training

  • Farmer Coordinator Management
    • Managing of around 30 Farmer Coordinators and their farmers
  • Agriculture extension
    • Conduct trainings to Farmer Coordinators on conservation farming and post-harvest loss and report on knowledge gaps of local farmers to the community
    • Conducts extension meetings as a way of feed back to the projects
    • Disburse inputs such as seed, fertilizer, and herbicides to farmer coordinators for demonstration plots. Report writing on the development stages of the demonstration plots
  • Business education component
    • Conduct trainings on Farming as a Business and VSLA to Farmer Coordinators
    • Mobilizes farmer groups for business trainings such as business group formation
Trading (only if trading activities are conducted in a season)
  • Farmer Coordinator Management
    • Establishing a close connection with the Farmer Coordinators for potential trading activities
  • Depots
    • Responsibility of trading depots in his/her area of operation
    • Supervision of depot clerks
    • Supervision and loading of grain purchases for delivery to market
Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Timely collection and provision of required information to Monitoring and Evaluation Officer
Reporting
  • Weekly written report to the Managing Director

Required skills and experiences

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience within an Outgrower scheme with responsibility for various aspects of operations
  • Degree agricultural economics, agronomics, agricultural engineering, or related field, preferably with farming background
  • Evidence of operations management and administration skills
  • Fluent reading, writing, speaking Acholi/Luo and English
  • Computer literacy skills in Ms word, Ms Powepoint, Ms Excel, and Internet
  • Good working knowledge of economic development and agricultural value chains
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Intercultural competence a must

Amatheon Agri Uganda is a large scale commercial farming company in Nwoya District where it grows rice, maize and green gram on more than 3,000 hectares.

Position Description

Amatheon Agri Uganda is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic individual to support the team with supervision and management of the Information Management System (IMS) in place. Primary responsibilities will include:

  • To develop and monitor/review a Monitoring and Evaluation departmental data and information management strategy, including data protection, information audit, data consistency and record management
  • Data collection using cloud based Data Management tools
  • Analysis of captured data using statistical software such as SPSS
  • Prepare timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually and annually reports for top management and third party donors
  • Data management and coordination across all program components

     

Required skills and experiences

  • Bachelors degree in Statistics, Information Management System, Post graduate diploma in Monitoring & Evaluation or any other relevant field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within an Outgrower scheme, working directly with farmers
  • Excellent knowledge of mobile and web based surveys and applications
  • Excellent knowledge in data analysis using statistical software and excel
  • Good working knowledge of economic development and agricultural value chains
  • Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
  • Fluent in Luo/Acholi

Amatheon Agri Uganda Ltd (AAU) was founded in 2013 to establish large-scale commercial farming operations in Nwoya District, north-western Uganda. Job Summary

The intern will support the Sustainable Development Manager in daily activities and duties. The Sustainable Development department is responsible for the company’s social due diligence, environmental compliance, community engagement, communications and overall sustainability strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Support due diligence process during land acquisition and follow up of land titling process
  • Support the implementation of the Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan
  • Support annual Environmental Audits and report to NEMA in conformity with Regulation
  • Liaise with Environment Consultant to carry out Environment and Social Impact Assessments
  • Support response to external inquiries
  • Support content production and design of communication materials such as leaflets
  • Develop a functional stakeholder communication strategy, identifying and mapping out stakeholders
  • Cooperate with communications department by reporting about activities in a presentable format
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Degree in humanities, natural resources, environmental management or related field
  • Highly literate in Microsoft Office i.e. Word, Excel as well as the internet in general
  • Excellent grasp of the English language: verbal and written
  • Ability to communicate with rural communities in Luo/Acholi
  • Innovative, and able to resolve problems with ease.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen, analytical, organization and problem-solving
