  • Profound knowledge of food security and food safety standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, IFS, incl. implementation and monitoring
  • Profound understanding of EOS and NOP Organic Standard, incl. implementation, and monitoring
  • Quality parameters analytical skills for food products (mainly grains, herbs, spices) and maintenance of product specifications
  • Understanding of international agricultural development projects and stakeholder communication
  • Strong writing and communication skills in German, highly organised


You will support the sustainability and quality department on a diverse portfolio of tasks, incl.:

  • Support the audit preparation processes for various food safety audits in-house (HACCP; organic standard; IFS Broker)
  • Support the monitoring and management of food safety standards
  • Support the communication, preparation, and analysis of product samples with European laboratories
  • Develop sustainable and efficient sampling and record system of quality analysis and product release
  • Carry out quality checks of incoming raw products and propose improvements
  • Support the company’s sustainable development activities (press releases, presentations, development projects)
  • Support the roll-out of a marketing campaign for food products on the German and Austrian market, incl. social media content production and design of communication materials in German language
  • Cooperate with marketing department by reporting about activities in a presentable format
  • Carry out research and any other duties as assigned


  • Be enrolled in a university/graduate school or have recently completed studies in the field of food technology, food security, biologist, agricultural sciences, or a related field
  • Real-time experience in the same domain is preferred
  • Knowledge of and a strong interest in certifications, sustainability, health, and entrepreneurship
  • Highly literate in Microsoft Office and Social Media
  • Excellent grasp of the German language: verbal and written; very good English is an advantage
  • Candidates should be able to adapt to an international multicultural environment and have good communication skills
  • Innovative, self-driven and proactive, highly organised

Amatheon Agri is a European agribusiness and farming company developing and operating sustainable agriculture and food projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. It is headquartered in Berlin.

The company has developed largescale agriculture operations in Zambia and Uganda, applies state-of-the-art farming techniques, works with a network of 4,000 smallholder farmers, and manages vertical integration across the agricultural value chain.

In 2020, Amatheon launched its first direct to consumer brand, ZUVA Foods. ZUVA is the start of a culinary journey to Africa, bringing 100% natural, fair and sustainably grown plant-based foods and superfoods to the German market. In 2021, marketing ZUVA will be a key focus for the brand and company’s development.


Job Summary

Are you looking to start a career in marketing? Do you have creative ideas and a passion for food, storytelling, social media and developing new partnerships? This is your chance to get hands on experience working for a new food brand and helping to develop its marketing activities!

For a term of six months, you will be Amatheon Agri’s Marketing Assistant, supporting activities in the Sales and Marketing Department. The position requires a high degree of independence, creativity, and common sense. You will need to be self-motivated, a problem solver, and have good communication skills both internally with colleagues and external stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity for a person who wishes to work with a growing and ambitious brand operating in the healthy food space.


Key Responsibilities

  1. Working closely with both internal and external stakeholders across multiple disciplines to ensure communications are aligned with marketing objectives
  2. Supporting the brand’s social media accounts, including but not limited to: creating regular content, engaging with online users, and identifying and developing collaborations with influencers of various sizes
  3. Drafting and editing news and texts regarding the brand and products, mostly in German but also in English
  4. Researching events and external marketing activities for ZUVA Foods, and assisting in coordination and planning for them
  5. Supporting traditional media engagement and follow-up
  6. Researching and identify new food trends, innovations and opportunities for the company and brand, with a special focus on healthy eating, products and ingredients
  7. Analyse price movements in the healthy food market
  8. Managing the brand’s Photo Archives
  9. Research additional certifications and assist with reporting obligations of certifications
  10. Conducting various research projects as required, and delivering accurate and reliable information
  11. Other administrative and project tasks as required


Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent English communication skills (C1 level writing/speech);
  • Excellent German communication skills (C1 level writing/speech); monther-tongue preferred
  • Ability to use and knowledgeable in social media channels, especially Instagram and Facebook
  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Minimum one year professional working experience (in a similar support role);
  • Interest in healthy foods, food trends, Africa, agriculture;
  • Sound judgement and ability to use common sense to find practical solutions;
  • Exceptional organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills;
  • Detail-oriented and self-starter;
  • Flexibility with changing priorities;
  • Very strong PC skills (intermediate Excel, PowerPoint, advanced MS Word and Outlook); graphic design or video editing skills are a bonus
