Description

Amatheon Agri is looking for an intern / work student who wants to get experiences in the work of an international agrifood company. We are looking for an all-rounder who brings knowledge and passion in the topics of agricultural production, food quality and logistics. We offer exciting insights into the work of Amatheon’s different departments, all linked with our operations across Africa!

The candidate should currently be studying e.g. food technology, food security, biologist, agricultural sciences, or similar, and should be highly organised and capable of working with minimal supervision.

Key Tasks

• You will be tasked to research on topics such international markets, agrictultural conditions in various countries, global trades, sustainablity certifications for various products, etc.
• You will contribute to the company’s communication channels including developing presentations, social media maintenance, content creation, proof reading, etc.
• You will be responsible in the operational area of raw material registration tasks, e.g. sample reception, internal quality inspection, data-entry, transition to laboratories, analysis of lab results, communication to laboratories
• You will  support audit preparation processes for various food safety audits in-house (e.g. HACCP, IFS, organic, …)
• You will support the Trading Department team in preparing and sending samples to international customers

Requirements

• You work with exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality
• You have the ability to use a variety of computer applications (incl. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Social Media)
• You have strong writing and communication skills in German and English
• You are excited to work in a dynamic, flexible and international environment
• You conduct all activities in a safe and efficient manner
• You demonstrate and promote the company vision and acts as a department-wide resource

Qualifications

• Be enrolled in a university/graduate school or have recently completed studies in the field of food technology, food security, biologist, agricultural sciences, or a related field
• Real-time experience in the same domain is preferred
• Knowledge of and a strong interest in food quality certifications, sustainability, trade, and entrepreneurship
• Excellent grasp of the German and English language: verbal and written
• Candidates should be able to adapt to an international multicultural environment and have good communication skills
• Innovative, self-driven and proactive

Job Description

For a term of two years, you will act as Legal Counsel working across incredibly diverse areas of law and business advice. You will report to the Group General Counsel and CEO. You will provide advice to senior management on matters ranging from corporate governance, M&A, corporate finance, shareholders agreements and general business topics. In addition, you will draft and review contracts and joint venture agreements, conduct legal research, and provide in-house legal services to all business units in the Amatheon Group. A good network of external counsel is in place to support you.

The position requires a high degree of independence, common sense and initiative. You will be working in an environment where unusual and exciting problems arise every day.

You will need to be self-motivated, flexible and able to problem solve, taking into account all aspects of the business. It is truly an exciting opportunity to be working with a growing and ambitious company operating in a number of challenging markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the corporate governance of the group, including;
  • Executing capital increases, debt conversions, other share transactions;
  • Observing all regulatory and filing requirements across jurisdictions – including public company regulation; and
  • Preparing board meetings, minutes, filings.
• Coordinate M&A and joint venture projects from the legal angle i.e. liaising with external lawyers for due diligence processes and contract drafting, as well as for ad hoc projects in their development phase.
• Drafting and reviewing contracts, including inter-company financing agreements, NDAs, grain sale and logistics contracts, consultancy and employment agreements etc.
• Advising on capital and debt raising and other corporate finance matters.
  Providing practical business advice to senior management taking into account risk management
• Conducting legal research and providing advice on various legal matters within different jurisdictions, including corporate, commercial, contractual, employment, litigation, EU food regulation etc.
• Assisting with HR topics including policy drafting.
• Handling highly sensitive information.
• Other legal tasks as required

Qualifications and Experience

• Law Degree and admission to practice with at least 3 years post-admission experience (no current practicing certificate necessary); familiarity with the common law system would be a plus.
• Previous in-house experience, particularly working for a publicly listed company would be an asset.
• Native English skills required. German language skills would be an asset.
• Sound judgement and ability to use common sense to find practical solutions.
• Exceptional organisational, and written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented, self-starter, demonstrating strong time management skills.
• Flexibility with changing priorities.
• Handling confidential information and ensuring its security.
• Strong PC skills.
• Valid work permit for employment in Germany.
